Herrera Johnson, 35, Arrested After Lula Powell Drive Shooting

35-year-old Herrera Johnson was taken into custody on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, following a shooting incident that happened on Monday evening on Lula Powell Drive.

At around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting with a victim at the apartment complex at 1100 Lula Powell Drive. Officers arrived on scene and found a 42-year-old man suffering from a minor gunshot wound.

Responding officers quickly located the suspect from the shooting, later identified as Johnson, behind 957 E. Hill Avenue. Johnson, who appeared to be intoxicated, was found in possession of a handgun as well as suspected fentanyl.

In a follow-up interview with Investigations Bureau detectives, Johnson admitted to shooting the victim. Johnson was subsequently charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, schedule II drugs and public intoxication.

The gunshot victim was transported to the UT Medical Center with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
