Personnel Director: Brooke BrightThe Personnel Section oversees all facets of personnel management for Knoxville Police Department employees. This includes the maintenance of employee records in both physical and electronic formats within the department’s records management system. The section coordinates employee training initiatives and transfer opportunities, administers random drug and alcohol testing, and distributes probationary, annual, and promotional performance evaluations.
In addition, the Personnel Unit oversees vacancy requisitions, schedules and conducts interviews, and provides support throughout the interview, selection, and orientation processes for new employees. The unit is also responsible for establishing and maintaining employee personnel files and coordinating background investigations for qualified candidates. Furthermore, the Personnel Section conducts workforce planning by forecasting anticipated vacancies and manages the recruitment and hiring processes necessary to fill authorized positions.
Officer Micah HutchinsThe Personnel Section is also responsible for the recruitment efforts of the Knoxville Police Department. Working in conjunction with the City of Knoxville Civil Service Department, recruiters actively seek qualified applicants. Recruiters visit career fairs, educational institutions, military bases, community organizations and area churches to encourage qualified applicants to apply for employment with the city. Recruiters work to attract the best possible applicants for the Explorer Program, Cadet Program, and Police Recruit positions.
