Community Partnership Officers
Community Partnership Officers (CPOs) are assigned specifically to one of the Knoxville Police Department’s three Field Operations Districts. The primary role of a CPO is to facilitate positive community engagement, establish lasting community partnerships, lead public awareness efforts and provide an expanded level of non-emergency police service to neighborhoods and residents. CPOs provide support in navigating existing government and non-government resources to resolve neighborhood complaints and quality of life issues.
KPD’s CPOs can provide guidance on the establishment of neighborhood watch groups and attend meetings as needed. CPOs can assist with the coordination of community special events and provide free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessments. Additionally, CPOs assist with special awareness and education programs such as Car Fit, Take Me Home and child safety seat checkpoints.
Most CPOs are also certified School Resource Officers and provide additional school safety and emergency response on a regular basis.
