Detectives Continuing to Seek Information Concerning December 2023 Murder of Chris Hill

The Knoxville Police Department is continuing to investigate the apparent targeted December 2023 murder of 51-year-old Chris Hill.

At around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, KPD officers were dispatched to 218 E. Depot Avenue, where Hill had been shot multiple times and was found lying unresponsive next to a box truck. Hill died at the scene.

Investigation led by Homicide Unit detectives determined that, earlier on the morning of December 13, an unknown individual stole a gray Toyota 4Runner that was left running outside of a West Knoxville home.

Later that afternoon, Hill, an area plumber, was working at home on Boright Drive when the stolen 4Runner was captured on camera circling the area and apparently watching his work truck. Surveillance video further revealed that the 4Runner followed Hill once he left Boright Drive and drove to E. Depot Avenue.

Once Hill arrived on Depot Avenue and exited his truck, an unknown suspect exited the 4Runner, shot Hill and drove away. The 4Runner was later found abandoned.

Detectives are continuing to pursue active leads but, as of today, no suspects have been arrested or charged in connection to Hill’s murder.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165. Tipsters could be eligible to receive a reward of up to $2,000.
