East District officers seized four handguns, including two that were stolen, after a traffic stop on Monday night.

At around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, officers stopped a white Nissan Altima that ran a stop sign at Castle Street and Wilson Avenue.

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 18-year-old Gabriel McMeans, front-seat passenger, identified as 19-year-old Jylen Bailey, and an additional backseat passenger. The passenger in the backseat was wearing a ski mask, while officers also saw dozens of rounds of ammunition in the car.

After a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, officers searched the car, resulting in the discovery of four loaded firearms as well as small amount of suspected marijuana. Further investigation determined that two of the firearms were reported stolen in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

McMeans and Bailey were both arrested and charged with theft of a firearm and unlawful firearm possession.
