Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are leading the investigation into a suspected murder-suicide that happened early Monday morning at a Gleason Drive condo.

At just after 1 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, KPD officers responded to a reported domestic dispute at a condo at the Meadows Condominiums in the 7900 block of Gleason Drive. It was also reported that smoke was coming from the upper floor of the apartment, where the domestic dispute was occurring.

KPD officers and Knoxville Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and attempted to enter the apartment. KFD firefighters were eventually able to access the apartment through a second-floor window, with the assistance of officers. After extinguishing the fire and accessing the apartment, an adult man and woman were found dead in an upstairs bedroom.

Based on the preliminary findings of the still ongoing investigation, it is believed that the fire was intentionally set by the deceased male. An official determination has not been made concerning cause of death for either the man or woman.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
