To ensure transparency and the safety of the Knoxville community, the Knoxville Police Department has a detective dedicated to overseeing the compliance of all registered sex offenders who reside in the City of Knoxville.

The Sex Offender Registry Detail also conducts sex offender compliance checks on a regular basis throughout the year.

Registered sex offenders from other jurisdictions or states are required by law to report to KPD during business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday within 48 hours of arriving in Knoxville. Appointments can be made by calling or emailing the Sex Offender Registry detective.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) is a resource that provides helpful information.
