Knoxville Police Department crash reconstruction personnel are investigating a fatal crash that happened on Monday night on I-40 West.

At around 8 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, KPD officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-40 West near the Papermill Drive exit.

One of the drivers, an adult woman, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the UT Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead after her arrival.

The contributing factors that led to the crash remain under investigation by KPD crash reconstruction investigators.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.
