Victims identified from deadly shooting on I-640 West

UPDATE (November 18, 2025, 3:10 p.m.): The Ford Bronco was found abandoned on Monday afternoon in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. KPD detectives responded to Fort Mitchell and took possession of the vehicle, with the assistance of the Villa Hills Police Department.

A suspect has not been charged at this time. Detectives are pursuing strong leads and the investigation remains ongoing.

The victims from the shooting that happened early Sunday morning on I-640 West have been identified as Troy Hutchison, 33 of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rodrell Jeter, 25 of Detroit, Michigan. The third gunshot victim, a 22-year-old man from Detroit, Michigan, remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Following extensive investigation, KPD Homicide Unit detectives believe that the victims were traveling through Knoxville from Detroit to Atlanta with the male suspect. The relationship between the victims and suspect and the motive for the shooting are unknown at this time.

The victims and suspect were traveling in a rented light color, newer model Ford Bronco with Michigan tag number 26541RF. The suspect left the scene in the Bronco following the shooting, and it has not yet been located.

Detectives believe the vehicle and suspect are no longer in the Knoxville area.

The suspect has not yet been positively identified and efforts to do so remain ongoing. Detectives are continuing to conduct interviews of potential witnesses as well as family and associates of the victims, who have no prior criminal history or known ties in Knox County.
