Robert Brabson Jr. arrested for series of downtown car burglaries

19-year-old Robert Brabson Jr., of Knoxville, has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a series of vehicle burglaries that happened in Downtown Knoxville.

Between January 4 and January 14, multiple car burglaries were reported at the State Street Garage, the Civic Coliseum parking garage, and the Marble Alley parking garage. A comprehensive review of available surveillance video revealed that the same suspect was involved in each of those burglaries.

Through continued video review, it was determined that the suspect, identified as Brabson Jr., was staying at an apartment at The Vistas apartment complex off Hall of Fame Drive. Brabson Jr. was taken into custody at an apartment at The Vistas by Knoxville Police officers on Thursday.

A subsequent search of the apartment led to the discovery of six firearms, including four that were stolen from vehicles, clothing matching what the suspect was wearing in the surveillance video, and additional evidence connecting Brabson Jr. to the burglaries.

At the time of the arrest, Brabson Jr. had an active warrant for violation of probation on a prior aggravated assault charge.

Brabson Jr. has also been charged with 10 counts of burglary, five counts of theft, two counts of theft of a firearm and one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
