At just before 7 p.m. last night, KPD officers responded to a reported stabbing at the Motel 6 on Merchants Center Boulevard.
Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, who had fled into the woods just south of the Motel 6. The victim, a 44-year-old man, was suffering from a laceration on his neck. The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and he declined transportation to an area hospital.
The victim reported that he was assaulted by an unknown man while he was standing in the stairway of the Motel 6. Officers did not find any evidence of the assault in the area where the victim reported it had occurred.
The victim was uncooperative with responding officers and detectives, expressed that he did not wish to prosecute for the assault and could not describe the events that occurred prior to the assault.
Officers canvassed the area following the report. Officers were unable to locate anybody matching the suspect description that was provided but did locate numerous potential witnesses.
At this time, a suspect has not been positively identified, and KPD Homicide and Violent Crime detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
