Five charged in connection to 2024 overdose death

Jasmine Thomas, 32, and Corey Etheredge, 39, have been indicted on second degree-murder charges in connection to a December 2024 overdose death.

The indictment stems from a Drug-Related Death Task Force investigation into the overdose death of a 35-year-old woman at a motel on East Magnolia Avenue in December 2024.

In addition to the second-degree murder charges, Thomas and Etheredge were each charged with sale and delivery of fentanyl and criminal conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in a school zone. Thomas was also indicted on additional charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, maintaining a dwelling for drug use and tampering with evidence.

Through the course of the investigation, Organized Crime Unit detectives identified three additional individuals involved in trafficking fentanyl throughout Knoxville.

Lorenzo Hatcher, 32, was charged with sale and delivery of fentanyl and criminal conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in a school zone.

Tiffany Thomas, 31, is indicted on criminal conspiracy and maintaining a dwelling for drug use.

Adarius Redmond, 22, is charged with criminal conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in a school zone.
All five individuals have been taken into custody.
